Our Pools Are Being Dug!

Our Pools Are Being Dug!

We’re so excited to tell you that our pools have started being dug! Absolutely Wild in Barrydale has started construction on a cold water swimming pool, a kiddies pool, and an indoor warm water pool. This will provide an awesome source of entertainment in addition to our numerous hiking and cycling trails you can use to explore the beautiful farm and glamping experience

Our cold water pool is sure to provide you with a memorable experience when visiting the farm, adding a sense of adventure to your stay with us. It can be enjoyed in hot or cold weather. Think of jumping into the cold pool for a dip after a hike or cycle following seeing the animals on the farm, and then having a braai to end off the day. The best part? The pool is ginormous, measuring at a whopping 25 by 7 meters. And, it has big, colourful slides to make your Absolutely Wild experience unforgettable.

If you’re not a huge fan of cold water, don’t stress. We’ve also started construction on an indoor warm water pool. It’s enclosed under a roof with stacker doors, so the warm air won’t escape. The warm water pool is perfect for those of us coming from the Indian Ocean or during those cold winter months when you want to swim. It’s a bit smaller than the cold water pool, around 10 by 4 meters.

We’re most excited to announce our mini pool for small kids: 2 to 3-year-olds. It’s a cold water pool and is toddler-proofed. It doesn’t have any steps. Don’t worry, it still has slides for maximum fun!

The Process

We’ve just started the process of excavating–digging the holes– where the pools will be built. We’re removing soil and rock where the pools will be built to make room for their shells. We’ve decided to use huge diggers to do this as efficiently as possible.

Excavation of the pools.

We’ve graded the sides of our excavation to create a smooth and even surface for the pool. When this process is completed, we’re going to add in the pool shells (yay!). We’re opting for concrete to make the pool as strong and watertight as possible. Then, we’re going to work on the plumbing and electrical elements. Lastly, we’ll fill the pools with water and turn on the filtration system. In the case of the warm water pool, we’ll also test out the heating and have a braai to celebrate.

Honestly, our favourite part of it all is the slides– we’re children at heart. We love their bright colours and the pizzazz they add to the farm. Who doesn’t love big, rainbow slides?

What Is Next?

After the pools are done, we’re going to add the final touches to the farm, including a padstal and an old car museum. We’re really ecstatic to welcome you onto the farm.
