Some stories are best told through music. Juan Boucher and Tasché, two of South Africa’s most celebrated Afrikaans artists, wrote and recorded an original song for PJ, the man behind Absolutely Wild Farm. Watch it here:

The Man Behind the Dream
PJ is a husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Despite being legally blind, he saw an opportunity where others might not have looked twice.
Just outside Barrydale along the R62, he purchased a farm and set out to transform it into something truly special; a place where families could connect, children could play freely, and every guest could feel the magic of the Klein Karoo.
The song captures this beautifully. “Hulle sê jy moet sien om te glo,” they say you must see to believe. But PJ walks a different path. He sees with his heart, and that is where his light lives.
What he has built at Absolutely Wild Farm is proof of exactly that.
A Destination Shaped by Vision, Not Sight
Today, Absolutely Wild offers something for every kind of traveller. Families can pitch a tent at one of the campsite options on the farm, or settle into a self-catering cottage or glamping tent with a wood-fired hot tub and a private stoep.
Three swimming pools, five slides, a super tube, putt-putt, a restaurant, a bar, and the largest indoor play area in the Southern Hemisphere make it a destination unlike any other along Route 62.
And yet, despite everything on offer, the farm has never lost its soul. Evenings still end around campfires. Children still run freely across open land. The animals, the birdsong, and the wide Karoo sky are as much a part of the experience as anything else.

About Juan Boucher and Tasché
Juan Boucher is one of South Africa’s most beloved Afrikaans musicians. He grew up on a farm in Vereeniging, where he taught himself to play guitar, and has since built a career defined by honest, heartfelt music that speaks to everyday South African life.
In November 2025, he performed live at Absolutely Wild as part of our opening weekend celebrations, and the connection between the artist and this place was clear from the start.
Tasché is a talented singer-songwriter who has collaborated with Juan on several projects. Together, their voices carry the warmth and authenticity that this song deserves.
“Hy Bou Nie Vir Vandag Nie”
One line from the song stands out above the rest: “Hy bou nie vir vandag nie, maar vir herinneringe wat altyd bly.” He does not build for today, but for memories that last forever.
That is PJ in a single sentence. Every decision made at Absolutely Wild, from the mountain biking and hiking trails stretching across the farm to the thoughtfully designed cottages and luxury tents, was made with the next generation in mind.
